Distribution
Overview
‘Distribution’ refers to the act of getting inventory (rooms) into the marketplace. A ‘channel’ is simply a sales channel. For example, for a retailer such as a department store, sales channels include physical stores, a corporate retail website, and partners such as Amazon, resellers, etc. In the hospitality industry, a distribution channel is a term used to describe how rooms are sold. In Hilton’s case, channels include our call centers and websites, third-party partners such as Hotels.com, Travelocity, and others. (These are only a few examples of our distribution channels.)
Our third-party partners use the Direct Connect Shopping service and Direct Connect Reservations service to find, book and manage rooms.
